HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Michigan health officials are reminding parents to get their children vaccinated against a childhood illnesses as soon as possible.
“Fewer Michigan children are currently up to date on their routine vaccines because of postponed well-child visits during the COVID 19 pandemic.” said Kristina Wieghmink, Ottawa County Department of Public Heath spokeswoman.
“We are reaching out to parents right now, specifically to beat the ‘back to school’ rush, if students do have in-person learning,” she said on “WHTC Wellspring” Thursday, July 9, 2020. “We need to make sure we’re protecting kids and adults from the diseases that could be preventable.
She said getting vaccinations before the end of summer will reduce the burden on the healthcare system.
More information on immunization is available here for Ottawa County and here for Allegan County.
