OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Four persons were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash late on Sunday morning in West Olive.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, a pick up truck, driven by an 18-year-old Holland man, was headed westbound on Tyler Street around 11 AM when it apparently drove through a stop sign and slammed into the passenger door of a northbound transport van on 144th Avenue. The force of the collision led to both vehicles leaving the roadway, with the van turning over onto its side.
The driver of the pickup and a 16-year-old female passenger, also from Holland, suffered serious injuries. They, along with two of the eight occupants of the van – a 26-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old male passenger, both from West Olive and both of whom suffered what was described as non-life threatening injuries – were taken to Holland Hospital for treatment. The other six passengers in the van were not hurt.
No names were disclosed as the incident remains under investigation.
