He was a member of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church and owned and operated Jerry Nyhof Builder until his retirement. Prior to his building business, Jerry worked for Worldwide Christian Schools as a fundraiser and project manager for schools being built in third-world countries. Following retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and volunteering for World Renew and Wycliffe.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan; children, Sheri and Jay Bykerk, Barb and Jim Bolhuis, Jan and Brian Westerhof, Douglas Nyhof; 5 grandchildren, Gwen and Matt Layman, Christian Bolhuis, Kim Bolhuis, Jake and Annika Westerhof, Ben Westerhof; siblings, Ida and Bernie Groenhof, Ray and Sharon Nyhof, Elmer and Leona Nyhof, Robert and Linda Nyhof, Ethel and Michael De Pooter, Ken and Shirley Nyhof, and John and Rose Meengs; in-laws, Helen and Gerald Grasman, Ernie De Vries, Ed and Cheryl De Vries, Phil and Diane De Vries; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Bernard and Lillian Nyhof, Harvey and Ann Nyhof, and Hermina Nyhof.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave. Holland with Rev. James H. Scholten officiating. Burial will be prior to the service in West Drenthe Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland. Memorial contributions may be given to the Zuni Mission Christian School.
