OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is again offering a free class to help people think about how to quickly react to everything from an active shooter situation to other types of emergencies that require self-preservation moves.
Among the questions to be answered during the three-hour class: What should you do in the case of an active shooter? Hide? Evacuate?
More that 800 people have attended a “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events” class in 2018 put on by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The class is both interactive and thought-provoking, providing strategies, guidance, and a plan for surviving an active shooter or other crisis event.
Two free sessions are set for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Feb. 27 and March 4. Registration is required.
Each class is held at the Ottawa County Fillmore Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore, West Olive.
