HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Amatuer Radio Club members Bob Broene and Tom Bosscher are looking for people who want to spend a Saturday afternoon studying for a ham-radio license.
The club, which hosts regular “Ham in a Day” classes, has helped 180 people earn their amateur radio licenses over the last five years.
The next “Ham in a Day” class is set for 1-6 p.m. April 13, 2019, at the Chick-Owa Sportsman’s Club, 9279 E. Ottogan Street (just west of Winding Creek) in Holland.
This is an opportunity for anyone wishing to get their amateur radio technician license to study and take the exam all in one afternoon.
Directed study runs from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. after which students will be tested.
The “Ham in a Day” class costs $25, which includes the book Ham Radio by Bob Heil. Anyone holding a current technician or general license may arrive at 6 p.m. and take the test to upgrade at no cost. Anyone whose license is within 90 days of expiring can also renew their licenses between 6 p.m. and the end of testing at no charge.
