HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — Holland’s Fourth Ward councilman, Brian Lynn, will not be running for re-election.
“We made the decision to not seek re-election in 2019,” Lynn wrote to WHTC in an email Tuesday afternoon. “It has been an honor to serve this community. I am better for the experience and look forward to finishing this term well. We are thankful to so many people that have supported and mentored us along the way.”
Lynn said he expects to finish his term of office.
As of 12:30 Tuesday, April 23, 2019, no other candidates had announced plans to run for the Fourth Ward seat. Should no one run — and should there be no write-in candidates — city officials would have to appoint someone to fill the role.
State of Michigan election law sets 4 p.m. two Fridays before the election as the deadline for any write-in candidate to file forms indicating the intent to run as a write-in candidate. That form must be on file with election authorities for a write-in vote to count.
Should a write-in candidate die or be disqualified for election for any other reason, write-in votes for other candidates would be counted as official, under state law.
