OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A two-vehicle rollover crash seriously injured a Fruitport man, and shut down eastbound Apple Drive Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong.
The crash happened just after 9:30 a.m., at Apple Drive and 144th Avenue in Crockery Township.
Sheriff’s deputies found a 72-year-old Fruitport man, driving a 2017 Ford Escape south on 144th, failed to yield at the intersection. An eastbound Dodge pickup struck the Ford, causing the truck to roll over and the truck’s driver, a 49-year-old Fruitport man who was not wearing a seatbelt, to be ejected.
The younger driver went to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Wildfong.
Police closed a stretch of eastbound Apple Drive for about an hour during the investigation and clean-up of the crash..
