HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — Holland police. officers and firefighters rushed to an injury crash near the intersection of 16th Street and River Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Police found that a 2004 Jeep Liberty, with a 17-year-old Holland man at the wheel, had been waiting to exit the Shell Gas Station at 365 River Ave., onto southbound River, according to Holland DPS Capt. Robert Buursma.
A van stopped in the outside lane of northbound River, to allow the Liberty to pull onto the road.
The Liberty’s driver pulled into the path of a 2012 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 61-year-old Park Township woman. She had been headed north on River, in the inside lane. She was unable to avoid her vehicle’s collision with the 2004 Liberty.
A 94-year-old Park Township woman in the 2012 Liberty’s passenger went to Holland Hospital for treatment; while the driver of that vehicle had minor injuries, she refused treatment.
The 17-year-old 2004 Liberty driver was not injured.
Neither alcohol or speed are believed to be a factor in the collision. The Holland Police Department continues its investigation into this accident and requests anyone who may have further information to contact the Holland Police Department at (616) 355-1100.
