HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Heavy rain is being blamed for a semi-tractor trailer rollover crash just before 3 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill.
The milk-hauling truck crashed on the exit ramp from westbound I-196 to eastbound Chicago Drive.
Police investigators found that the 66-year-old male driver lost control of the truck during heavy rain and low visibility. The truck slid off the exit ramp and rolled, temporarily trapping the driver.
Georgetown Township Fire / Rescue responders extricated the driver, sending him by LIFE EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids for treatment of what police called minor injuries.
The ramp was temporarily closed, until just before 7:30 a.m. to allow safe removal of the truck and any spilled milk containers.
