HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Five people were hurt in two-vehicle crash just before 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the intersection of Ferris Street and Forrest Park Drive in Grand Haven, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Buter.
Investigators found that a 15-year-old Caledonia resident in drivers training, had tried turning north onto Forrest Park Drive from eastbound Ferris Street. She was at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla, with her mom in the front passenger seat; in the back seat, her 89-year-old great grandmother and 92-year-old great grandfather, both Holland residents.
The young driver failed to yield while turning, police said.
The Corolla collided with a westbound Town & Country van being driven by a 42-year-old Grand Rapids woman. All five people were hurt in the crash, and went to area hospitals.
All had been using seat belts, according to Buter.The crash remains under investigation.
