WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM) – It looks as if a two-year federal budget deal could be on the President’s desk for his signature by the end of the week.
On Monday, Mr. Trump tweeted that the agreement had been reached with no controversial amendment that might derail it. St. Joseph Republican Congressman Fred Upton lauded that pact. “They (White House and Congressional negotiators), in essence I think, closed the door to the negotiation room, ordered pizza and pop, probably, and didn’t emerge until they struck a deal,” he said during the weekly interview on “WHTC Morning News” on Tuesday. “It’s not perfect, it not the way that you or I would write the deal, but at the end of the day, knowing that you have some strong parties in divided government, it’s got to happen.”
The US Treasury was set to hit the debt ceiling in a matter of weeks, which could have led to defaulting on some government payments.
