HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — For 15 years, she was a wildly popular radio morning show co-host in West Michigan. Texas native Geri Roseanne Acevedo, 65, died July 22, 2019.
She and her husband, David, had been living in Carrollton, TX,
She was born in Brownwood, TX on Jan. 30, 1954, graduating from Stephenville High School and going on to earn a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard Payne University.
She and David Acevedo married on May 23, 1980.
Her career in radio and television spanned 40 years and several states, from a Victoria, TX, TV station to co-hosting the Dave and Geri Morning Show on WLHT radio in Grand Rapids.
She and her family lived in Grand Rapids until the couple retired from radio in 2007.
Her passions beyond work and family included gardening, writing, reading, cooking, pop culture, and the news.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Casey DeKrey of Carrollton, TX and Kristen Acevedo-Toll of Los Angeles, and their respective husbands.
A memorial is set in Texas for Saturday, July 27th, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations in Geri’s name to Operation Kindess Animal Shelter at www.operationkindness.org. Arrangements are by the Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home in Carrollton, and people can leave online condolences at that website.
