HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Hope College Knickerbocker Theatre latest free film in this summer’s series is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.
The Knick goes to the dogs –well, one dog — on Thursday when “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” is screened.
The 2009 film features Richard Gere as a music professor who finds a stray Akita puppy and brings it home, over his family’s initial objections.
Hachi trots to the train station each day to meet the professor when he returns from his job, but when the man suddenly dies, Hachi refuses to give up his routine. The film is based on a true story about a dog in Japan. The film is G-rated and features co-stars Joan Allen, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Sarah Roemer.
The Knickerbocker is at 86 E. Eighth St., in Holland.
