HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 64-year-old Grand Rapids man was airlifted to Spectrum Health Butterworth after a pin-in crash on 68th Avenue at Lincoln Street in Allendale Township, just after 10:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cal Keuning.
Allendale and Coopersville firefighters assisted deputies on the scene.
The crash happened whne a 65-year-old Coopersville woman was driving south on 68th, encountered a traffic back-up, and lost control of her vehicle, accoriding to police.
Her car hit a northbound vehicle, carrying two 64-year-old Grand Rapids residents and two Grand Haven children, ages 8 and 12. The crash sent the second vehicle into a ditch.
In addition to AeroMed taking the male driver to the hospital, LIFE EMS and AMR ambulance took all three passengers of the man’s car, as well as the Coopersville driver to Spectrum for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The crash remains under investigation; 68th Avenue between Osborn and Warner streets in Allendale Township was closed during investigation and cleanup, for the safety of all.
