SOUTH HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A man driving southwest of South Haven was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night.
According to South Haven Area Emergency Services, the unnamed motorist was driving on M-43 around 10:15 PM when his car hit a traffic island in the roundabout intersection at 12th Avenue, went airborne and smashed into the Maple Grove Bar and Grill. The establishment was closed to patrons at the time, but several employees were inside, and the owner had debris fall on him caused by the force of the accident while he was washing dishes in the nearby kitchen; he was not hurt.
The driver had to be extricated by rescue workers and was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
