LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It seems as if the tourism industry in Michigan is making up for some lost time.
According to Pure Michigan Vice President Dave Lorenz, it was a “great July” for travel in the state after seeing “a dip” in May and June in visitation. “Travel is something that you typically can put off a little bit, but you build up what is called ‘pent-up demand’ in travel, and that’s why the weekends are crazy busy in the really popular places like Holland,” he said in a recent “Travel Michigan” segment on “WHTC Morning News.” “If you can, take some weekdays off over the next month and a half. August and September are great times to travel.”
The summer tourism season in Michigan climaxes with the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk on September 2nd, with the span connecting the Upper and Lower Peninsulas closed to vehicular traffic for about six hours that Monday, beginning at 6 AM.
