GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A traffic stop between Hudsonville and Jenison overnight turned out to be more than what anyone apparently had expected.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant James Douglas, a cruiser attempted to pull over a vehicle for making an illegal turn on Chicago Drive (M-121) near Port Sheldon Street around 2 AM on Wednesday. The vehicle pulled away and a high speed chase eastbound ensued. Several items were tossed from the vehicle before deputies called off the pursuit on Chicago Drive and Main Street in Jenison, and the suspects were last seen driving away onto the eastbound ramp to I-196 towards Grand Rapids.
Going back to where the items were tossed, deputies recovered “numerous” sets of car keys, according to Douglas, and that led them to Parkway Auto near where the pursuit began, where evidence of a burglary was spotted. Two vehicles were stolen from there, one of which was recovered a short distance away. In addition, deputies spotted an unoccupied vehicle nearby that was reported as stolen out of the Grand Rapids area.
The suspects remain at large, and tips to Silent Observer are welcome.
