HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 60-year-old Holland woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, the woman was driving her automobile south on 144th Avenue just before 4 PM when she stopped for a four-way stop sign at Butternut Drive. She then proceeded through the intersection and into the path of a northbound pickup truck that apparently drove through the stop sign, slamming into the car on the driver’s side.
The woman was flown in critical condition to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, while the 18-year-old Holland man driving the pickup and his passenger, a 14-year-old Holland boy, were not hurt.
Wendt didn’t immediately identify anyone involved, but added that the intersection was closed for around 90 minutes, and that all three persons involved were buckled up as the crash remains under investigation.
