HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – School bells ring in Holland Public Schools this week.
In advance of Wednesday’s start of classes, the district is holding two-hour-long open houses at all of its instructional buildings this evening, with a 4:30 PM start for the elementary schools, a 5 PM beginning at the middle schools, and a 6 PM commencement at Holland High School. Dr. Brian Davis, superintendent of Holland Public Schools, can’t stress enough the need for teachers and parents/guardians to be on the same page, right from the start of the Academic Year. “The transition from summer to school is really, really important,” he said in a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “To have that conversation about ‘How was the summer? What kind of things were you able to do? What are your hopes and aspirations for your child this school year? How can we partner together throughout the year?’
“(These open houses can help in) getting communication things, verifying email and phone numbers, and sharing some of the basic learning outcomes for the year.”
More information on the open houses is on the district’s website.
