UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – A new school year is upon us along the Lakeshore.
Holland Christian kicked off classes for Academic 2020 on Tuesday, with Holland, Hamilton and Black River getting underway on Wednesday. Holland’s Brian Davis, the dean of school superintendents along the Lakeshore, admits that there is a special feeling when the first bells sound in the halls of his district’s school buildings. “We work for learning, we work to see those ‘lightbulbs’ click, is the way I express it, in a child or a teenager. That’s what all of this work is about,” he said in a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “You have those moments all throughout the year, and that’s why I’ve stuck around as long as I have in education – my 29th year of doing this work. That’s what brings the joy to what we do.”
Fennville begins classes next Monday; West Ottawa and Zeeland next Tuesday; and Calvary schools, with Saugatuck, get underway on the traditional Tuesday after Labor Day, September 3rd.
