HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Lakeshore flood advisory is in effect until 5 a.m. This is in addition to the beach hazards statement, which remains in effect through late tonight, Aug. 28, 2019.
High wave action — as of noon, Lake Michigan waves were up to 6 feet in some places — and dangerous swimming conditions exist, which includes rip currents. Waves could reach 8 feet, according to National Weather Service reports.
The force of the water into channels between pier heads may flood portions of port towns along the river channel edges — a completely submerge piers and decks at times.
Affected county shorelines, in addition to Allegan and Ottawa, include Muskegon, Oceana, and Van Buren.
