HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Oak Ridge Boys are coming to Holland but this time, for Christmas, not Tulip Time, for a show at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at the Holland Civic Center Place, 150 W. Eighth St.
The country music favorites have sold more than 41 million units worldwide and are promoted as being synonymous with “America, apple pie, baseball, and country music.”
The “Boys”—Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban — are members of the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame (2015 Inductees) and, since 2011, the Grand Ole Opry.
They are known worldwide as one of recording history’s most extraordinary musical successes. They have charted single after single and album after album, celebrating two double-platinum albums and more than 30 Top 10 hits, including No. 1 chart-toppers “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Thank God For Kids,” “American Made,” and “Y’All Come Back Saloon,” among dozens more.
The Oak Ridge Boys travel all over the United States for the 30th year, spreading Christmas cheer by performing Christmas classics, new favorites and many of the legendary group’s hits.
The Oak Ridge Boys’ set list is intended to take audiences on a hit-filled musical journey of holiday cheer from the group’s seven best-selling Christmas albums, along with songs from the new Down Home Christmas Album, which includes standards such as “Amazing Grace” and “Silent Night,” along with the newer favorites, including “Don’t Go Pullin’ On Santa Claus Beard,” written by Americana hit-maker Anderson East, and “South Alabama Christmas,” written by Jamey Johnson.
“Down Home Christmas is a project that we are happy to share with the world and, rest assured, you will hear these songs on our upcoming 30th annual Christmas tour,” says Joe Bonsall. “The instrumentation is sparse, yet incredibly put together, and the vocals are rich and vibrant. Many of the songs were freshly written by a stable of Nashville’s top songwriters.”
Tickets cost $67, $49, and $39 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, via Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the Holland Civic Center Place Main Office, which is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mon.-Fri.
The band then heads north, for a Dec. 13 concert at the Leelanau Sands Casino and Lodge in Peshawbestown, MI.
