HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Hope College’s 14th president, Matthew Scogin will formally take office today, Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. He’s been on the job since July.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 pm. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel, with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. The installation ceremony will be broadcast live in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts Auditorium for individuals who prefer that viewing location and for additional seating if necessary.
Students may gather in the Bultman Student Center Great Room for a more informal viewing experience.

A presidential inaugurationis a big deal, said Greg Olgers, one of Hope College’s spokespeople, because it doesn’t happen that often at the college, which is more than 150 years old.
A public celebration will immediately follow the ceremony at the Haworth Inn & Conference Center.
Saturday’s Community Day includes picnic is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 (Tune to 99.7 and 1450 WHTC today for a chance to win tickets) at Windmill Island Gardens.
Lunch fare includes hamburgers, hot dogs, black bean burgers, vegetarian baked beans, macaroni and cheese, vegetable trays with dip, fruit salad, kettle chips and a deluxe nacho station.
The Holland American Legion Band is set to play from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Karizma takes the state from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. A prize drawing is set for noon
