HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The State of Michigan is partnering with pharmacies to give naloxone kits to Michiganders at no cost on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019.
Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Naloxone, or Narcan®, is a drug that reverses a life-threatening opioid overdose. The Narcan® Nasal Spray is a prefilled, needle-free device that is sprayed into one nostril while patients lay on their back.
The following pharmacies in Ottawa and Allegan counties will provide the kits:Meijer, Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid, Family Fare, Walgreens, Paul’s Pharmacy (Holland) and Wayland Village Drug.
U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams has urged every American to carry and be trained to administer this life-saving drug, comparing it to an EpiPen or knowning CPR.
