HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Grand Rapids resident Rogelio Mireles, 35, died Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2019, in a traffic crash on Lake Michigan Drive, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s authorities.
The crash happened on Lake Michigan Drive near Thomas Street just before 7:15 a.m.
Police found Mireles, driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra, and was headed east on Lake Michigan Drive, but suddenly veered over the center line, into oncoming traffic.
The Sentra hit a 2009 Toyota Yaris, with Grand Rapids resident Michelle Weaver, 22, at the wheel.
Weaver went by ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth, in serious condition. Mireles’s injuries were fatal.
The crash remains under investigation and police could not say if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
