HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The sights are set lower for the Greater Ottawa County United Way this year.
Before a crowd of more than 620 volunteers at Camp Geneva this afternoon, officials of the agency announced goals for the 2019-20 annual United Way Community Campaign. After failing to reach the $2.5 million goal for four straight years, the campaign’s fundraising target was set lower to $2.2 million, which is more within reach with what the local United Way had garnered last year, when the total was just over $2 million.
In addition, the campaign has set targets of impacting 65,000 people, three thousand more than last year, and of attracting 10,000 volunteers after 9,922 gave of their time to United Way efforts in 2018-19. Nearly 200 companies are conducting workplace campaigns, which is about the same number as last year.
Michael MacPherson of Huntington Bank is the 2019-20 Community Campaign Chairman.
