HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — The 19th annual Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival is underway in Holland. (See the photo gallery.)
Esperanza Degnan, Latin Americans United for Progress board member and Macatawa Bank vice president and treasury sales officer,said the festival has changed over the years but still retains core goals.
This year’s festival is sponsored by Greater Ottawa United Way and, for the third year, LAUP. and made possible by a grant from the Michgian council for the Arts.
Tonight’s screening starts at 7 at the Brew Merchant, 442 Washington Ave. in Holland with the short film by Noah Semeria called Awakening and Javier Fesser’s comedy, Campeones about a basketball coach is sentenced to community service with a team of cognitively challenged players.
On Saturday, it’s a family movie night starting at 7 Rosa Parks Green, 84 E 19th St, Holland, Event begins at 7pm
With special screenings of animated short by Blanca Carola Montoya, “The Legend of Toto,” Kim Connell’s film Mariachi High,which presents a year in the life of a champion mariachi ensemble from Zapata High School on the Rio Grande in South Texas.
