HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — A beach hazards statement is in effect throughout the day today, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019.
Included in the National Weather Service warning includes the following counties: Allegan, Ottawa, Mason, Oceana, Muskegon and Van Buren.
Beachgoers along the Lakeshore will find high wave action, building from 2-4 feet to 3-6 feet, and strong currents creating dangerous swimming conditions.
Waves are likely to wash over piers with such force, people walking on the piers could get swept into the lake.
People should not attempt swimming in the lake or walking on the piers, according to authorities.
