Some areas in Western Michigan will see aerial sprayings beginning at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night, weather permitting.
In Allegan County, areas will include Trowbridge Township and a portion of Gun Plain Township. An official press release notes that the chemical being used, Merus 3.0, will be disbursed at an ultra-low volume of one tablespoon per football field size.
On the included map, these areas are listed as Area 1-1 and Area 1-2.
In Calhoun County, aerial spraying that was not finished Tuesday night for Area 4-1 will be continued, weather permitting.
A press release notes that a small portion of Southeast Calhoun County (Zone 4-2) is scheduled as a weather alternative for tonight.
Citizens living in Zones 4-3 and 4-4 should prepare for treatment on or after Friday, October 4th.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD) will notifiy the public when tonight’s sprayings are complete, as well as when all treatment zones in the area are finished.
The spraying in Calhoun County comes following the recent news of a 79-year-old Battle Creek man dying from the EEE virus, the fourth EEE fatality in Michigan this year.
