HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Zeeland City Council is set to meet tonight, for a 5:45 p.m. study session, and a 7 p.m. business meeting, in council chambers at City Hall, 21 S. Elm St. in downtown Zeeland.
Among the items for consideration: A fourth amendment to the Mead Johnson water contract; the burning ordinance; the Roosevelt fire station parking-lot bid; a bid for the Herman Miller chiller overhaul; trick-or-treat hours; and a special assessment for about two dozen downtown businesses for a $425,146.29 public-improvement project.
City Manager Tim Klunder will also review progress so far this year on the city’s Strategic Action Plan, using a scorecard developed for tracking progress and answering any questions council members have.
Zeeland city council members will also discuss raises for themselves. A memo from Zeeland City Clerk Pamela Holmes indicates city council members will get a raise to $1,750 per year; mayor pro tem ill be paid $2,000 a year, and Mayor Kevin Klynstra would get a pay bump to $4,000 a year, with a per diem total to $2,750. Each member of council would also be paid $50 per meeting attended.
If approved tonight, the pay raises go into effect in 30 days.

Klunder will also give a preview of the city’s most-recent audit, completed Sept. 9; the final report to council will happen in late November or early December.
