CASCO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Allegan County Sheriff deputies are trying to identify a driver who was killed in a fiery crash in Casco Township.
First responders were called to the intersection of Blue Star Highway and 109th Avenue just after 10 p.m. Wednesday where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
When firefighters extinguished the blaze they identified a person inside the vehicle, but due to severity of the burns they were not able to identify the victim.
Investigators believe the driver was traveling westbound on 109th Avenue when they failed to stop at the stop sign and hit a small hill, causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof.
The fire occurred under high-voltage power lines, but there was no interruption of power to the area.
They say the vehicle is believed to be a late 90’s or early 2000’s silver Dodge Durango, but the license plate was also destroyed in the fire.
It’s unknown if speed or alcohol are factors. The crash remains under investigation.
