HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Details on the shooting death of Coopersville resident Emily Chatman, allegedly at the hand of her estranged husband, indicate she appealed to an Ottawa County judge for an emergency protection order, and was denied. according to WOOD-TV8.
Danielle Evans, a spokesowman for Ottawa County’s Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence (formerly CWIT) says it’s OK to reach out for help, even if you’re unsure of leaving a situation. Resilience is hosting a reception on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as part of the Big Read. The day recalls the four Mirabal sisters, who were murdered on Nov. 25, 1960.
The reception is free and open to the public, set for 6 p.m. Monday. Nov. 25, 2019, at the Resilience offices, 411 Butternut Drive in Holland Township.
The Making a Difference fundaiser, which features fine food experiences along with education on intimate-partner violence prevention is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus Ave., in Grand Haven. Tickets cost $50 per person or $500 for a table sponsor.
