HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two men and two women were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Hudsonville early Sunday morning, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill.
It happened on westbound I-196 at the end of the 32nd Avenue ramp, just after 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019. Police investigators found a 2016 Tesla, with a 39-year-old Allendale Township man at the wheel, had been entering the freeway via the 32nd Avenue ramp. It appears the Tesla was traveling fast, and the driver lost control, hitting the embankment, according to Dill. The Tesla rolled several times, ejecting a 44-year-old Norton Shores man and 21-year-old woman in the backseat — neither were wearing seatbelts. Both are in critical condition.
The driver and a front- seat passenger — a 38-year-old Allendale Township woman — had been wearing seatbelts, but suffered facial injuries. All four went to Metro Hospital via LIFE EMS. Jamestown and Hudsonville firefighters assisted deputies at the scene. This crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
