HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County now accepting applications for the 2020 Citizen Police Academy.
This 9-session series offers 25 people an inside look at law enforcement. Sessions are from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays. from March 5 through May 7th, with no class during spring-break week.
Potential Citizen Police Academy attendees must be at least 18 years old; live or work in Ottawa County; have no misdemeanor arrests within a year of the application — and no felony arrests. Background checks will be made to verify eligibiity.
Topics to be covered include road patrol, criminal scientific support and crime scene investigation, along with classes about firearms and range use; the simulator, special operations, legal system, crash investigations, community policing, road patrol, corrections, 911 central dispatch, undercover investigations, narcotics, marine patrol, dive team, K9 unit, and e-unit.
Most sessions will be held at the West Olive Fillmore Complex, but could vary based on topic.
