UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – Crashes several miles and several hours apart in southwest Ottawa County on Friday sent two motorists to local hospitals for treatment.
The first occurred southeast of Zeeland. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, a 72-year-old Jenison woman was driving westbound on Adams Street around 1 PM when her vehicle was broadsided by a southbound vehicle on 74th Avenue that apparently disregarded a stop sign at that T-intersection. She was taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment of what Dill said were “non-life threatening injuries.” The other driver, a 46-year-old Zeeland woman, was not hurt, but was cited for a traffic violation.
The second came around four and a half hours later on Holland’s North Side. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, a 26-year-old Holland woman was driving southbound on US-31 and apparently disregarded a red traffic signal at Felch Street. Her vehicle slammed into a westbound vehicle, causing it to veer into an eastbound vehicle. The woman was cited for a traffic violation and subsequently taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of what Wendt called “non-life threatening injuries,” while the other two drivers – a 21-year-old Holland man and a 37-year-old Holland woman – were not hurt.
Neither sergeant immediately disclosed any names of those involved in these incidents, but both did say that all of the motorists were buckled up as the crashes remain under investigation.
