HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — South Haven’s year-long sesquicentennial commemoration will a fitting conclude on New Year’s Eve with a celebration in the heart of the central business district.
The celebration of being a city for 150 years began last spring with an outdoor community picnic followed by several events during 2019.
At midnight Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, a beach ball drop — 150 commemorative balls will fall on celebrants — at the corner of Phoenix and Center Streets will bring the year to a whimsical close.
“NYE in the Haven” is sponsored by the South Haven Visitors and Convention Bureau.
Activities for all ages include an early-evening youth celebration at the South Haven Center for the Arts. The South Haven Ice Rink will be open with the first 250 skaters admitted free. A DJ will begin playing outdoors at Phoenix and Center at 8 p.m.
A late-night highlight: Announcing the winner of the South Haven 150 Photo Scavenger Photo Hunt.
