KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The decision by the Republican-controlled Michigan State to reject the appointment of Democrat Jon Hoadley to the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees is just one of a long list of reasons for change at the ballot box, according to Hoadley.
If Governor Gretchen Whitmer is reelected, she could reappoint him next year, when two other terms open up on the board.
Hoadley says he would welcome that. He says the reason given for his rejection, that is he also a graduate student at WMU, does not constitute a conflict. Instead he says the Senate played politics, and he would welcome a second appointment.
But Hoadley says there are a lot of more important reasons for people to vote this fall. He says the direction of the state is on the line, so he plans to work to get people out to the polls in November.
The former three term member of the State House of Representatives and failed congressional candidate says he has no plans to be on the ballot himself this fall, but is keeping his future options open.
