HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of the son of long-time Holland High and Hope College tennis coach Tiger Teusink.
Scott Teusink was struck by a steel coil while working at the Challenge Manufacturing facility off of South Washington Avenue on December 22nd, and succumbed to his injuries eight days later. The “Holland Sentinel” reports in today’s editions that MiOSHA inspectors were told of the incident on Tuesday and are conducting an investigation, as is standard in fatal workplace accidents, that could take several weeks or months to complete. A similar probe by that agency into an August 1st worksite incident in which a worker died when the second floor collapsed beneath him during renovation work at the Holland Civic Center came back with its conclusions last week.
Challenge Manufacturing has not commented on the incident. A memorial service for Scott Teusink is set for Saturday afternoon at Christ Memorial Church; further details are here.
