HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It doesn’t have the dramatic effect of the classic pointing Uncle Sam poster “I Want You,” but the Greater Ottawa County United Way is seeking volunteers.
The cause is good – help in the funding process of human service programs in the county by determining where funds raised during the current United Way annual campaign are invested. Training begins in about six weeks from now, and over a two-month-long period, volunteers spend betwen 15 and 20 total hours in reviewing applications, touring program sites and going over in panels the effectiveness of the requesting program in education, financial stability, basic needs or health. Recommendations are then made by panel leaders to the United Way’s board for consideration.
