GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Compared to what the Lakeshore had to endure over the holidays, this latest wintry blast is somewhat mild.
However, it is still significant enough to warrant maintaining a Winter Weather Advisory through 7 PM this evening for Ottawa County and parts north, and through 7 AM tomorrow morning for Allegan and Van Buren counties. About an inch of snow has fallen in this region since the advisory went into effect around 11 PM last night, according to various trained spotters.
Forecasters at the National Weather Center office in Grand Rapids say that about another inch of snow is expected, with up to four additional inches from Saugatuck to South Haven possible. Cold temperatures in the 20’s, along with some winds, will compound travel difficulties in terms of visibility and clearing snow off of roadways.
More snow showers with light accumulations are likely tomorrow evening into Wednesday morning before some clearing comes by the end of the week, with temperatures rising to above freezing over the weekend.
