LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two staffers at the Wayland Post of the Michigan State Police have earned statewide honors from the department.
Trooper Blaine Bachman was named Trooper of the Year, and secretary Connie VanHouten was named Civilian of the Year by the MSP. Bachman, who joined the department only four years ago, was honored for his on-duty abilities, which includes being a field training officer, and for his community outreach efforts. VanHouton was cited for her on-the-job attitude and for being the primary organizer and fundraiser for many community benefit efforts since joining the MSP in 1997.
The state police also honored Christopher Russo of the Jackson Post as Motor Carrier Officer of the Year during Thursday’s special ceremony in Lansing.
