HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The efforts to improve the Macatawa Watershed’s water quality is being taken to another level.
Officials of Project Clarity announced on Wednesday the development of a new, real-time monitoring system that would consist of sensors located in the watershed, low-power radios, and a cloud computing platform to provide researchers and educators water quality updates, including the impact of various factors such as rainfall and discharge. Three companies are working with the community partnership in this wireless Internet of Things technology that would be an upgrade of current monthly readings that are taken on site manually by researchers.
The announcement by Project Clarity, a 12-million-dollar public-private effort to improve water quality along the Macatawa River and Lake Macatawa, didn’t state when this new IOT system would be installed.
