GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Many of the attractions and exhibits that were at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month have made its way northwest along I-96 to Grand Rapids this weekend for the Michigan International Auto Show.
That includes the mobile Secretary of State office, a full-service branch on wheels, according to Secretary of State Ruth Johnson. “You can get everything that you would get at a regular office,” she explained. “We had our carpenters make everything so that (the equipment) just pulls out of the trailer, it’s portable, we can take the trailer out in a car, and we take it to a lot of places.”
Office staff will also brief visitors on the federal Real ID regulations which will take effect in a couple of years that will mandate an extra layer of security in order to board domestic flights or to enter federal-controlled facilities.
The MIAS runs through Sunday at DeVos Place.
