HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A step in the process of mothballing the James DeYoung power plant is slated for this week.
The Holland BPW says that one lane of Pine Avenue in front of the facility will be closed today through Friday, as crews will be doing overhead electric line work as part of “retiring” the coal-fired electric generating facility. It was replaced completely last October when the natural gas-fueled plant at Holland Energy Park became fully operational.
Holland City Council is working with the BPW on deciding what to do with this property that is adjacent to Lake Macatawa.
