HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A pair of events this evening spotlight the Holland social calendar.
The Art in Bloom contest to determine the official poster for the 2018 Tulip Time Festival culminates in the announcement of the winner at a ceremony at the Commons of Evergreen. A panel comprised of Festival officials and members of the Holland Area Arts Council considered 20 works from 16 artists that emerged as finalists from 99 submissions by 47 artists. The other 19 works will go into a “Viewers’ Choice” public competition that will be held in conjunction with the eight-day festival, which begins on May 5th.
In addition, Local First hosts the first Lakeshore Annual Meeting and LocalMotion Awards at City Flats Hotel. The economic promotion group is joining with the Hope Sustainability Institute and the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance in honoring local businesses that “are making a positive impact on their employees, community and the environment,” according to a Local First statement, with awards in those three separate categories. In addition, one individual or organization will win the Guy Bazzani Local Legacy Award for demonstrating “unceasing commitment to the Local First mission.”
