GANGES TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – One of the ways to get into a park off of Lake Michigan has been temporarily blocked off.
The Allegan County Parks Department on Wednesday closed the south access ramp to West Side Park west of Fennville due to, what Parks Coordinator Brandy Gildea said in a statement, “the dune holding this ramp has suffered intense erosion over the past nine months. County staff have stabilized the structure; however, the ramp is unsafe for public access. A mitigation plan has been created and is being evaluated. In the meantime, the public may access the beach from the northernmost stairs at the park.”
No timetable as to when the south access ramp would reopen was immediately disclosed.
