HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The public can get a chance to see this evening what judges saw in another award-winning effort by Holland High’s theatre department.
Students will put on productions of “Anna and August” and “Philemon” that earned Division 1 Studio and Main Stage Theatre Championships this past weekend in the 2018 Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association state competition. It’s the third straight year that Department Director Kevin Schneider submitted entries in both categories, and the second straight year that the Dutch have won in both categories. “Because of our reputation, not only do we have to be as good as everybody, but we have to exceed them by a significant margin,” Schneider explained, “because judges kind of look at us as, ‘well, they’ve won it so many times, maybe we should start looking elsewhere,” so we really have to draw focus to the production, to work harder to live up to that reputation.”
The back-to-back presentations begin at 7 PM in Holland High’s Performing Arts Center, with tickets available at the door.
