GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – March will come in as a small lion weather-wise along the Lakeshore.
The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids has issued a 13-hour Winter Weather Advisory for Allegan and Ottawa counties, as well as 10 others in West Michigan. From 9 AM to 10 PM today, forecasters say that rain will change to snow by late morning, be heavy at times, and up to three inches of accumulation are expected, with “significantly” higher local amounts possible between 10 AM and 4 PM. However, the fast-moving nature of this latest storm system, in which it should be out of the area by daybreak tomorrow, should not exacerbate high water conditions on area rivers and streams stemming from heavy rains last week.
A flood warning continues through late Saturday night for the Grand River in Robinson Township, as waters in the Vanlopik Road vicinity are still two feet above the 13.3-foot flood stage, and won’t go below that mark until early Saturday morning.
Sunny skies and temperatures in the 40’s are predicted from tomorrow through the weekend for the Lakeshore.
