ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – To some, it was a forgone conclusion that Bill Huizenga would seek a fifth two-year term in Congress.
However, the Zeeland Republican admitted that it wasn’t that cut and dried before he submitted nominating petitions to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office this past Monday. “(Talking it over) is a committment that I made to (wife) Natalie very early on,” Huizenga said during his weekly interview on “WHTC Morning News” on Thursday. “We would have this discussion every two years and make sure that it was the right thing for us as a couple and us as a family. For myself, I always wanted to have that kind of ‘gut check’ of whether I am being effective, of doing something that I believe in, and ultimately, is this where I believe God wants me to be at that moment?”
Huizenga and Dr. Rob Davidson, a Democrat challenger from Spring Lake, are not expected to face any partisan party challengers on the August 7th primary ballot ahead of the November 6th General election.
