Now that a city manager and an operator for the Civic Center are settled issues, the Holland City Council can tackle a couple of other matters this evening.
During the biweekly work-study session, in which matters are discussed but no final decisions are made, the nine-member panel will go over a report from an ad hoc Property Review Committee that was formed a year ago to look at all of the city-owned properties and decide which ones can be kept and which ones can be sold off. This includes land owned by the Holland BPW municipal utility. In addition, Council members will consider proposed ordinance amendments that would allow the growing short-term residential rental industry to have more of a legal foothold in the Tulip City.
The panel will also go behind closed doors for a special business meeting in which they will “review a written legal opinion” from City Attorney Ron Vander Veen on an undisclosed matter. Such meetings, usually involving litigation or contract negotiation, are not subject to the state’s Open Meetings Act regulations.
The work-study session and special meeting slated for Holland City Hall begins around 5:30 PM. A link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
